With a mixture of therapeutic and behaviourist strategies we look to challenge and support young people, mostly in the SEMH space. By growing self esteem as well as setting strong boundaries to encourage self management of behaviour we manage to get young people who otherwise have struggled, to finally get to a point where they can see themselves achieving and growing successfully.

We are flexible in how we operate and implement our strategies. Each child is an individual who needs to have a tailor made approach to ensure they will get the attention and support they need to progress successfully. We work closely alongside carers, parents and social service teams. We use a mixture of activities, mentoring and group sessions to achieve our aims with the young people we work with.
It is imperative we maintain and grow strong relationships with all those involved with the care for the young person. Whether we are building activities or creating behavioural management strategies, we all need to pull in the same direction and we work hard to make sure this is what happens. We will listen to and share information as we gather it too.
All activities are built to push and inspire each young person to grow and or modify their behaviour. They are set up in consultation with all care givers as well as the young person as they are 100% bespoke for that particular individual. They will be managed by experienced and qualified staff. Once set we do not encourage changing them, as they help build continuity and stability.
Each young person is listened to, treated with value and expected to grow to do the same to other people. We are able to offer activities that allow for the creative and emotional side to the young person to be able to freely surface. All information fed to us can be an indicator of something we can do to help and regulate activities useful to that young person. We look to guide not to punish.
We work to build a sense of respect into all young people we work with, and this applies to both themselves and others. We expect them not to hurt or harm others or other people's property. We use incentives and rewards which are constructed with the young persons best interests at heart. There are also consequences for poor behaviours.

Consequences are agreed between all care givers when needed.
Every session with each young person will have its own report. Anything that has happened, positive or negative will be highlighted and in cases where required, detailed as it happened. Young people we work with are all told that we do this as it protects them as well as offers ongoing information about what is happening so progress can be monitored.
Each young person is a work in progress. Any issues will be addressed as soon as we are made aware of them. We look to have weekly or bi-weekly meetings to inform, update and get information to help us make sure we are up to date in the provision of care for the young person. Anything that you are unhappy with should be told to us ASAP so we can make the relevant changes and adjustments.

It is imperative we discuss fully the needs of each young person prior to working with them and that the information we receive is as accurate as possible. Any behavioural extremes or issues need to be known up front so we can make sure we provide the best care for the young person. We can also lay out any rewards, incentives and consequences as well as go through expectations. We can meet digitally if required.

We are able to pick up and drop off the young person. There are simple rules against vaping, smoking or damaging vehicles that will all be explained in the pre meetings held prior to the young person joining us.

We are happy to participate in what we call" Rough & Tumbles" with children in our care. This could involve play wrestling, trials with play boxing or rugby. All physical interaction will be managed, good natured with zero aggression involved. This helps build bonds and security that the young person is safe and will not be harmed by the person caring for them. It is only undertaken after clearance from ALL care givers, including social workers and any other social service involved. It can be really effective in building bonds and also putting off genuine violent outbursts.

We will inform the relevant care giver or social service representative in the nature that anything untoward or unexpected happens where this needs to be reported. It could be an incident involving running away, medical or extreme/ dangerous violent outbursts where resolution has been extremely challenging or not possible due to where we are at the time. Although reports will be full it still helps to get support and assistance from the other caregivers in these cases.
Dan Vassiliou has multiple years of experience of working with SEN children. A keen strongman, Dan looks to enable the young person to grow their self esteem through succeeding in the bespoke activities set for them, as well as to learn to manage their behaviour through boundaries and fair reward and consequence systems.
Strong bonds with parents/carers have always been paramount to any success as well as building strong bonds with the young person through consistency and trust.
A mixture of therapeutic and behavioural strategies have always been the go to for Dan and getting the balance right something his experience has allowed him the ability to do for each young person he takes on board. All staff working with M.B.F reflect the same ethos and determination to enable the young people coming to us to garner success and a better self management for their behaviours.
