Activities

What Can We Offer?

We offer a wide variety of activities for all young people in our care. Those activities will be agreed amongst all care givers and involve input and agreement from the young person prior to us working with them. We believe in creating specific activity opportunities that match interests or abilities prevalent in the young person, as well as ones that will challenge them and help them expand their comfort zones.

Here are some of the activities we have provided successfully in the past:

  • Football- This includes coaching and general play.
  • Boxing-  This includes training and accessory exercise coaching.
  • Art- This involves working with an experienced BBC cartoon artist. We also offer teaching and freedom for the young person to create their own art.
  • Nature trail walks. We help the young person to experience nature, with activities such as climbing, building bases etc.
  • Adventure trails where we do high ropes and also other adrenaline challenges.
  • Rock climbing-  Either tutored or free climbing at a centre.
  • Gym work- Strongman challenges, general weights or aerobic training talk about nutrition
  • Model making/building- Using Warhammer stores and also home based building.
  • Days out- General trips to seaside or adventure parks or museums.
  • Meals- Taking the young person out to lunch or dinners, as part of a day or a short meeting time.
  • Volunteer Experience-Examples include helping local animal shelters or with the mechanics at go kart tracks.
  • Cinema or bowling, gaming etc. Used to build rapport and a relationship.
  • Outdoor activities like axe throwing or archery.
  • Go kart racing or quad biking.
  • Shooting at ranges or shotgun shooting (shotgun shooting is dependent on age)
  • Cooking- This is a good option if at a home. The young person can be engaged in making lunch or dinner. This is a good opportunity to teach about nutrition too.
  • School based activities dependent on what the school has to offer in terms of resources.
  • Therapy Sessions- Taken to a qualified therapist as part of our time.
  • Tuition sessions- We take the child to our own or organised tuition sessions from qualified providers

Check out other things we offer on our About Us page here

We are happy to feed the child and this will be necessary for longer sessions. Drinks and treats are also something we can provide. This will often be out in public if we are taking the young person to an activity unless we are based in a school, home or other setting.

The above are just some examples. We can create an activity timetable to match the needs of the young person. We encourage full engagement and self confidence as they get better and also develop respect for the activity itself. There is no limit to what we can arrange and set up for any young person to get them engaged and involved in something they see regular progress with and feel they are a part of.  In the pre-meeting we can iron out a path that is best for the young person being discussed. This way all aspects of the care giving team are aware with what is happening and what expectations are.
